Monteath & Powys worked with our client and EJE Architecture to provide specialist planning advice and assist in preparing a Development Application for alterations and additions to the Lambton Park Café.

The project is located within Lambton Park, which includes the Lambton Library, Lambton Park Tennis Courts, pool, ovals and the surrounding parklands. The site was formerly the 'Lambton Baby Health Clinic' building that had also been previously used as a café known as the 'Lambton Park Tea Rooms' since 2017.  The location of the café supports positive social interaction and connections within the locality.

The Development Application reviewed and assessed the project against the relevant State legislation, Regional and Local Environmental Planning Instruments and Policies, ensuring appropriate design and mitigation measures were incorporated from the onset. 

Monteath and Powys managed the Development Application process for the client in addition to managing the supporting subconsultants. Further, the project involved regular consultation with the client and architect. 

The project was approved in March 2025 and opened in April 2026.  

First Light Lambton café has become a popular meeting spot for the local community in a much-loved park.
